Glass glue is a material used to bond and seal various types of glass with other base materials. Mainly divided into two categories: silicone glue and polyurethane glue (PU). Silicone sealant is what we usually call glass glue, and it is divided into two types: acidic and neutral. Neutral glue is divided into: stone sealant, anti-mildew sealant, fireproof sealant, pipe sealant, etc.

1. How to use glass glue

1. Use: One-component silicone glass glue can be used immediately. It can be easily punched out from the glue bottle with a glue gun, and its surface can be trimmed with a spatula or wood chips.

2. Sticking time: The curing process of silicone glue develops from the surface inward. The surface drying time and curing time of silicone glue with different characteristics are different, so if you want to repair the surface, you must do it before the glass glue surface dries. (Acid glue and neutral transparent glue should generally be applied within 5-10 minutes, and neutral variegated glue should generally be applied within 30 minutes). If color separation paper is used to cover a certain area, after applying the glue, it must be removed before the skin forms.

3. Curing time: The curing time of glass glue increases as the bonding thickness increases. For example, a 12mm thick acid glass glue may take 3-4 days to solidify, but within about 24 hours, an outer layer of 3mm will be formed. Cured. When bonded to glass, metal or most woods, it has a peel strength of 20 lbs/in after 72 hours at room temperature. If the area where glass glue is used is partially or completely sealed, the curing time is determined by the tightness of the seal. In an absolutely airtight place, it is possible to remain uncured forever. If the temperature is increased, the glass glue will become softer. The gap between metal and metal bonding surfaces should not exceed 25mm. In various bonding situations, including sealed situations, the bonding effect should be comprehensively checked before use of the bonded equipment. During the curing process, acid glass glue will produce a smell due to the volatilization of acetic acid. This smell will disappear during the curing process, and there will be no odor after curing.

4. Bonding: A. Completely clean the metal and plastic surfaces to remove oil stains, and then rinse all surfaces with acetone except for the plastic. The rubber surface should be polished with sandpaper and then wiped with acetone. When using acetone please observe the precautions for using this solvent. B. Apply glass glue evenly on the surface of the prepared object. If you are bonding two surfaces, you can first find a place to place one side, and then squeeze the other side with enough force to squeeze out the air, but pay attention Do not squeeze out the glass glue. C. Place the bonded device at room temperature until the glass glue solidifies.

5. Sealing: When silicone glass glue is used for sealing, follow the same steps as above. Squeeze the glass glue into the joint surface or gap to make full contact between the glass glue and the surface.

6. Cleaning: Before the glass glue is cured, it can be wiped off with a cloth or paper towel. After curing, it must be scraped off with a scraper or scrubbed with solvents such as xylene and acetone.

2. What are the operating steps for glass glue?

It will look beautiful when you follow a line, and you can't stop, the force should be even, and you should hit it in place at one time to ensure it is beautiful.

The first point: first you need to be able to use a glue gun;

Second point: Determine the width of your glue, which is the width of the gap;

Third point: According to the width of your glue gap, cut the glue nozzle into a diameter slightly smaller than the gap;

Point 4: Do a good job of protecting both sides of the glued gap. Paste 2-3CM tape on the glass, profiles, stones, etc. on both sides of the gap to protect the glass, profiles, stones, etc. on both sides. It is also very convenient for correcting the glue in the gaps;

Point 5: Master the speed of gluing and the speed of the glue gun, and move the glue gun evenly according to the depth of the gap;

Point 6: Trim the gluing area. Find a spatula to smooth out the uneven areas, and fill in the gaps where there were no gaps during gluing;

Point 7: After 48 hours, remove the tape on both sides of the material to complete the construction.
